Tottenham Hotspaw

We are so excited to announce that  Tottenham Hotspur FC has become the first football club to create an Official Supporters’ Club for dog-owners – Tottenham Hotspaw – and its fundraising activities will support All Dogs Matter!

Fans can now sign up to become members of the Tottenham Hotspaw Official Supporters’ Club alongside their beloved pets and get access to One Hotspaw Moments – a programme of special experiences for supporters and their dogs.

A Tottenham Hotspaw membership is free and includes the opportunity to take part in fundraising activities and events in support of our rescue and rehoming work.

Huge thanks to Tottenham Hotspur for choosing our charity to support and we can’t wait to work together to help dogs in need!

UPDATE ON REHOMING

Sadly like many other charities across the UK, we are completely full with dogs at our kennels and in foster homes. Due to the rehoming crisis in this country, we are currently very limited as to the dogs we can take in.

We are now even seeing Puppies, like Iggy, pictured here, abandoned and given away when unscrupulous breeders cannot sell them. Iggy is a Cane Corso, and we receive dozens of calls every single day about this breed. They are large dogs, and buying a puppy is a 15 year commitment – they are not accessories that can be bought and sold on a whim. We have never known dog abandonment to be this high.

This is largely the result of a huge increase in dog breeding and ownership across lockdown, and the sharp decrease in demand for dogs now. We are hearing from many owners who don’t research or misunderstand the reality of pet ownership, and need us to take in their new pets that are most often purchased online. Breeders are unable to sell litters of puppies, and they are abandoned.  Due to this sharp increase in careless breeding, many more puppies are born with, or develop, health and behavioral issues that owners and breeders don’t want to, or cannot manage. We are seeing many more dogs in need of veterinary treatment, each dog that comes in to us costs us on average of £1000. This trend has had a huge impact on our funding and our capacity to take in more dogs.

Thanks to your ongoing support we can continue to be there for the dogs that need us.

Appeal for Foster Carers

At All Dogs Matter we work hard to make our kennels as comfortable as possible, but some dogs struggle in this environment, particularly older and or unwell dogs. Therefore, foster carers are incredibly important in helping provide dogs with the extra attention and stability they need in this turbulent period of their lives. Foster homes also free up valuable kennel spaces so we can make room for more dogs in need so they aren’t at risk of euthanasia.

To be an All Dogs Matter foster carer you need to:

  • Ideally have had previous experience owning a dog and be confident with handling them
  • Be based in North/North West London postcodes or surrounding Essex areas
  • Be at home for some of the day and not leave the dog alone for more than two hours (we can’t consider you as a foster carer if you work full time as lots of our dogs suffer with separation issues)
  • Offer an adult only home or home with children aged 14+
  • Have direct access to a secure private garden as many of our dogs can be nervous and need a safe space to explore by themselves
  • Have your own transport – to take your foster dog to vet appointments
